The History Behind
Arthur Construction
![]()
After serving in the United States Army, Ray Arthur began his construction career with T.C. Bateson Company, headquartered in Dallas, Texas. During his 5 years with Bateson, Arthur served as Project Manager on several multimillion-dollar construction projects at Gene Autry Air Force Base in Oklahoma and Edwards Air Force Base in California. Arthur's professional dedication, hands-on management style, and construction knowledge led to his being contracted by construction companies in Wichita Falls, where Arthur moved his family.
That same year Ray Arthur had served as project manager for an exceptional variety of multi-million dollar projects in Texas, in each case delivering outstanding results for property owners, architects, and planners. These projects include: the 14,500 seat Wichita Falls Memorial Stadium, the first high-school stadium in the United States to be built with Astro Turf; Oak Cliff Savings & Loan in Dallas; three 1000-man dormitories for Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls; a $15 million addition to John Peter Smith Hospital; construction of Huguley Memorial in Fort Worth; the five story Wichita Falls Criminal Justice and Detention Center; the seven story Midtown Manor Senior Residence in Wichita Falls; multiple school buildings, a ten story Holiday Inn, and several churches and shopping centers. No matter the size or complexity of the projects he managed, Ray Arthur consistently completed the work on time, if not ahead of schedule, and on budget. In 1985 Arthur formed his own construction company, Arthur Construction. His honest workmanship and close attention to detail are hallmarks of his business.
In 1985 son Scott Arthur joined forces with his father, making Arthur Construction a true family business. Scott Arthur's educational training in business administration and his experience as a journeyman carpenter and foreman proved to be strong assets to the company. His first major project was serving as superintendent for the new Faith Baptist Church sanctuary and auditorium. Since 1985, Arthur Construction, led and managed by this father-and-son team, has continued its outstanding performance in construction project management, working on some of the most complex and challenging construction projects in North Texas.
The Arthur team's construction management experience includes: Bethania Hospital's emergency room and trauma treatment center; school facilities--classrooms, dining facilities, and gymnasiums--in Burkburnett, Iowa Park, Seymour, and Wichita Falls; the Wichita Falls Museum's special collections wing; Friendship Community Park in Burkburnett; various hospital facilities and additions; and Burkburnett Bank in Parker Square in Wichita Falls.
The owners of Arthur Construction have successfully completed 42 different projects ranging from $1 to $15 million. This extensive variety of projects is testament to the high level of skill and dedication that Ray and Scott Arthur apply in everything they do. Thanks to their skillful planning, their commitment to personally supervise each and every job, and their total honesty in their working partnerships, Arthur Construction has an impressive past and a very bright future.
